Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Communication with Anna was good. We liked the chimnea and using the hot tub. Also seeing the deer in the morning and evening.
Negative: Unfortunately I have to be honest and say the cleaning is not up to scratch. The large bedroom window and sliding patio doors were filthy. I had to clean the bedroom window inside and out so we got a decent view. The back of the tower fan in the bedroom is caked in dust. Under the bed is dusty with an old pair of socks from a previous guest left there. There was also an unpleasant looking stain on the bedsheet when we got into bed at 11pm. Too late in my opinion to contact the owner. The hot tub felt dirty. When we sat in it you could feel the plastic was coated in scum. The water smelt chlorinated but I'm not convinced the water had been changed for a new guest as it should be. The electrics look like a diy disaster. I don't think they would pass an electrical inspection by a certified company. Considering the place is made of wood with a chimnea on the decking. You would expect there to be smoke detectors on the ceilings in both main rooms. All we saw was one chucked on a shelf in the seating area. In the bedroom there is no fire escape and no opening window. A fire starting in the main living area at night would not end in a great outcome. I rely on reviews from booking.com so this is my honest review. We paid £287 for 1 night here. When you pay a premium price you expect a premium product. This was not our experience.
