Catawba Meadows Park is just 17 miles away in Morganton, offering a 2.5 mile greenway along the Catawba River, zip lining, an 18-hole disc golf course, and a massive playground for the littles. Morganton also offers many shopping and eating options in the historic downtown area, and free outdoor concerts in season. Quaint small town Marion is 16 miles, offering more shopping and eating options. Love to hike and be outdoors? Lake James is 17 miles away, and South Mountains State Park Clear Creek Access is just 13 miles away. Boat rentals, fishing, biking, and swimming are available at Lake James. There are numerous waterfall hikes within easy reach, including Linville Falls, as well as horseback riding and "real" gem mining. The kayaks are not available for guest use.
