Summary: Our family has been coming to OBX for years. This year when our usual group could not join us, we quickly pivoted from our usual house rental to a smaller option for myself, partner, and kids. Our unit was just the right size for the four of us (1 K in BD, plus a Q pullout in the LR). It was nice having the kitchen available, which is unique from the usual hotel experience. The balconies are surrounded by woods so had several large spiders when we first arrived, but maintenance cleared them right away when requested! The kids loved the indoor splash zone, arcade, and peddle boats. I wish we would have attended more of the daily activities ($). They looked fun, but we were busy with our own things off campus. The weather was so nice we would have loved for the outdoor pool to be open, but we travel in the off season so that was not a surprise. We did have some concern about bugs. Even at the main property there were spiders and large webs on the outdoor furniture. There were a few roaches in the unit and common areas. My kid came to my room one morning crying that a bug was in her bed. I went to find a large roach under the pillow. Later we returned to the unit to find another in the bedroom. Service was great, though! Staff sprayed the unit while we were out the next day and there were no more bugs in the unit afterward! On the last day, there was a large one in the indoor pool area. Overall, the staff/service and nearby amenities made the stay exceptional!
