You may want to try some nearby attractions like renting a Kayak and doing island hoping or taking a ride on the Hammocks Beach State Park Ferry to spend the day at a local island. Either by ferry or kayak, don't miss out on watching no the wild horses on one of the islands. There's also Emerald Isle for beach fun and activities which is also 20 minutes away, or Atlantic beach which is about a 45 minute drive. Or just enjoy some nearby shopping & eating three miles away in nearby Swansboro or 35 minutes away in Jacksonville.
For our military travelers/families or retirees there's Camp Lejeune within three miles or Camps Johnson & New River/Geiger. Both within a 30 minute drive.
