Enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine while you take in the magnificent long-range views of the north Georgia mountains and the surrounding lush forest. Let your everyday troubles melt away in the new hot tub surrounded by the sounds of nature. Take a short hike on the property through the enchanted forest. The choice is yours; stay put in our peaceful hideaway or drive down the mountain to use the many amenities that Big Canoe offers.
A 15 minute drive through the park-like setting of Big Canoe to the top of Sanderlin Mountain rewards you with our private paradise. Drive onto a flat driveway with one step entry to the main level of our home.
- Living Space -
Enter the rustic foyer with a large antler chandelier to be greeted by two bear cubs in the trees of Big Canoe. The owner is a professional photographer, and the home is filled with images of wildlife in Big Canoe. The open concept kitchen, family room and breakfast room are surrounded by windows viewing the mountain range and mature forest. You will see Amicalola Falls and Lodge on the top of the mountain ridge. The family room has a vaulted ceiling and large TV over a rustic stone fireplace which is decorative only. Play family games or watch your favorite movie on the large TV in the terrace level den. The fireplace in the den is decorative only. Relax and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the hot tub on the terrace level deck, but do not forget to look into the woods. You may be lucky enough to spot a turkey, deer or even a bear.
- Kitchen & Dining -
The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make a wonderful meal, complete with a large beautiful island. Outside the dining area and grill on the large main level deck offer million dollar views. It is a rare opportunity to grill with views like these. The inside the dining area seats six also offers panoramic views.
- Beds & Bathrooms -
The master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, king bed and recently updated bathroom with 2 sinks and shower. On a clear morning, view gorgeous sunrises over the mountains from your bed. The master closet is locked for the owners, but there is a dresser and armoire for your belongings. Feel like you have entered the forest in another main level bedroom which is surrounded with huge windows that view the mountains and woods. This bedroom has a queen bed, en suite bath with tub/shower and private balcony viewing the mountains. The laundry room and the half bath are on the main level. The cardinal room on the terrace level has a queen bed with windows that view the forest. The bear room has a full size bed. The bathroom has recently been updated and has tub/shower and sink in one room and toilet and sink in a separate room.

THE AREA:
Big Canoe is an 8,000-acre wildlife gated community in the hardwood forest of the Blue Ridge Mountains just north of Atlanta, offering over twenty-four miles of maintained hiking trails and plenty of wildlife including deer, black bears, and turkey. With seven mountains and five lakes, the community has a beautiful backdrop for its three championship golf courses, fourteen tennis courts, three swimming pools (one Big indoor), swimming lake (with beach, paddle boats, canoes, & paddle boards), stunning mountain lake (with marina, fishing & rental pontoon boats) and first class wellness center and basketball court. As a renter, you have access to all of the Big Canoe amenities paid directly for each amenity. I'm sorry, but we do not offer any passes with the rental. We are more than happy to offer our recommendations about the local area and answer any questions you have about the home or the community. RESORT-LIKE AMENITIES:
We have 3 golf courses, 5 lakes, hiking trails, a wellness center, yoga, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, saline whirlpool, tennis; pickleball courts, bocce courts, Jeep Trail, dog park, beach, water slide.
OCCUPANCY:
This unit allows 8 overnight guests. Feel free to have guests over, however, in compliance with the city regulations, there cannot be more than 8 people overnight in the unit at any given time. Over occupancy may result in eviction.
DRIVING/ROAD ACCESS/PARKING: The road up the mountain is all paved, but is sometimes curvy and steep. Most people think the view from the home at the top of the mountain is worth the drive. Easy access to home from the large, level driveway and parking area. Room to park multiple cars.
GATHERINGS:
We know you are coming to Big Canoe to have a good time, but out of respect to the other tenants and neighbors, this property has a strict "No Party"policy.
QUIET HOURS:
Quiet hours are from 10pm to 8am. Guests are responsible for the conduct of all persons in their unit.
**CLEANING PROTOCOLS** A housekeeping fee will be included on all reservations. This fee will vary in price based on the size of the property. The house is professionally cleaned prior to your arrival. Please inspect it at check in and call housekeeping at in the event something is unsatisfactory. As we will send housekeeping back to the property to re-clean the reported areas, no refunds will be given for housekeeping issues. There is no fee within the first 24 hours to return and address the issue. All cleaning is done by professionals who use advanced cleaning practices and disinfectants. We maintain excellent cleaning standards and pay above the living wage standards; 100% of your cleaning fee is paid to the cleaners (i.e. no profit to us) and we insist on a professional level of cleaning between guests, with photos of each room to ensure clean is up to highest standards. This beautiful home is pet friendly with pet fee. :-)
PET FEE:
$100/per, 2 dog max, 45 lb. limit- you are welcome to bring your pet for a nonrefundable pet fee of $100.00 per dog with a two dog limit. Dogs must be leashed at all times outside in Big Canoe and kept in crates if left in the house alone. Failure to notify of pet and pay fee is grounds for immediate eviction. Dogs are not allowed on furniture in any home. Damage caused by pet(s) brought to home, or excessive cleaning for housekeeping will be documented and billed to guest. (Cats are not allowed.)
COFFEEMAKERS:
Keurig and drip coffeemakers. The drip coffee maker takes a cone shaped filter, not a flat bottom.
FIREPLACE:
Are decorative only.
**CLEANING PROTOCOLS** All cleaning is done by professionals who use advanced cleaning practices and disinfectants. We maintain excellent cleaning standards and pay above the living wage standards; 100% of your cleaning fee is paid to the cleaners (i.e. no profit to us) and we insist on a professional level of cleaning between guests. If something isn't right we promise to make it right. Please contact us and we will send a cleaning professional to your property.
SMOKING:
Smoking of any kind is not allowed in the unit. There will be a minimum $250 penalty fee if it is determined that there was smoking in your apartment during your reservation period.
MINIMUM AGE:
Guests named on the reservation must be 30 years or older. By booking a reservation, you represent and warrant that you are 30 or older. The name on the reservation must be present at check-in and throughout the duration of the stay.
CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT:
Check-in time is at or after 4pm and check-out time is prior to or at 10am. Early check-ins and late checkouts are based on availability and can be requested one day before. Additional fees may apply.
CANCELLATIONS:
Cancellation charges are as follows: rental payments are fully refundable until 14 days prior to the reservation arrival date (less credit card fees). If 8-13 days prior to the reservation, 1/2 the total rent and tax can be refunded. Less than 7 days: cleaning and pet fees can be refunded. We will do our best to work with each guest. We have many repeat guests so we try to take care of each and every one.
