I had a dream to build a Catskill Mountain modern log home that was drenched with light, had vaulted ceilings and expansive views. And here it is! Completed in October 2023, this home has everything you could look for in a vacation get-away. Total privacy on 5.7 acres with open fields, stone wall framed woods, and a babbling stream at the bottom of the property. In the summertime it is a resting place for thousands of Monarch butterflies who come for the milkweed preserved in the field.
Inside there are two guest rooms downstairs, with a full shared bath, as well as a primary bedroom upstairs with a large ensuite bathroom with a beam framed shower. All the bedrooms have brand-new queen-size beds. The kitchen is open to enjoy guests while cooking up a lovely meal. The dining table is a solid oak piece I got from my builder—a homemade table like many you will find in the house. If it’s cold outside enjoy the wood burning stove which warms the whole house. The large wrap around deck with gas grill and picnic table is where most people want to be when the weather is warm!
The home is located only 15 minutes from Belleayre Ski Resort and Plattekill for anyone looking to hit the slopes, hiking, fishing, kayaking, and a nearby gym (that offers day passes) with an Olympic size indoor pool. It is also just under 10 minutes to the quaint yet vibrant village of Margaretville. There you will find a large grocery store (that meets any dietary needs), drug store, restaurants, bars, and some of the cutest shops around.
If you want to enjoy the beautiful Catskills, then I offer you my dream home! I will insist this is not a party home though. It is for people who are there to relax and enjoy both the nature surrounding you and the beautiful interior. And for dog owners--it really is a dogs dream place to run:)
