The South Fork New River is popular for its crystal clear mountain waters with fishing, swimming, paddling, hiking, and picnicking options. The town of Todd, 30 minutes away, has outfitters and guided tours. Wilkesboro, home of the famous MerleFest traditional music festival, is about 40 minutes from the cabin. Popular downtown Blowing Rock is also about 40 minutes from Peaceful Retreat.
Peaceful Retreat is a delightful log cabin in a quiet, secluded area with fine touches throughout, creating a pleasing atmosphere. The floor-to-ceiling wood interior finish and a wall of windows for light and view add warmth to this home. The main level great room features upscale leather furniture around a stacked stone wood-burning fireplace. The living room flows into the spacious kitchen and dining area. The back deck offers a gas grill and outdoor dining overlooking the mountain scenery. Above the living room is a fun open loft for kids to hang out, with an oversized bean bag and writing desk. The lower level family room includes a pool table and shuffleboard game table for hours of fun and also has a large flat-screen TV and comfortable lounging couch. There is also an outdoor wood-burning fire pit to gather around together.
This serene log cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains has six well-appointed bedrooms with homey touches and pleasing artwork. The main floor master bedroom features a king bed and queen-size pull-out sofa with a full ensuite bathroom. There are two additional queen bedrooms on the main level. There is plenty of space to spread out on the lower level with a bedroom with a queen bed, a bedroom with a queen bed and a twin-over-full bunk bed, and a sixth sleeping area with a king bed. The owners have added a wet bar on the lower level for guests to enjoy.
Peaceful Retreat has central heating and air conditioning with mini-split air conditioning on the lower level for year-round comfort. There are six TVs equipped with ROKU and the option to watch on the Pluto TV app or stream Netflix shows and movies. A camera faces the driveway, and another at the back of the house captures the view. Winter travelers should prepare for inclement weather with 4-wheel drive vehicles and tire chains. Pets are not allowed.
