Nestled on a pretty hill above the French Broad river in Arden, near Asheville, Tŷ Nant Cottage (pronounced Tee Nant) is a beautifully converted horse barn, situated in 1½ acres of lush pet friendly gardens with stunning year-round long range views of meadows, woodland and Bear Wallow Mountain.
Relaxing on the wide wrap around deck, or the private master bedroom deck, surrounded by mature trees, makes you feel like you are miles from anywhere, yet you are only a 15 minute UBER ride into Downtown Asheville or a short drive to Biltmore Park Town Square or the small town of Arden. So whether you are vacationing for adventure, relaxation or simply to re-connect with friends and family, Tŷ Nant Cottage truly is in the most amazing location.
When our family visited Asheville in 2012 it was our first vacation to the mountains and we totally fell in love with Western North Carolina, which is why we purchased Tŷ Nant Cottage in 2016. We spend most of our time exploring waterfalls, hiking and indulging in the local food scene, and whether you’re with us for a long weekend, a full month, to relax or on the hunt for adventure, Tŷ Nant Cottage is wonderfully situated for you to make the most of your time on vacation. You can be hiking, exploring the Biltmore Estate, driving the Blue Ridge Park Way, mountain biking, zip lining, skiing or antiquing in just short drives from Tŷ Nant. And with the French Broad at the end of the driveway, fishing, swimming, tubing or kayaking are right at your fingertips. If snuggling up on the deck (or by a wood burning fire) with a good glass of wine, a great book and amazing views is more your idea of a vacation, well we have that covered too.
Tŷ Nant Cottage is beautifully appointed with luxurious comfort throughout. The cottage is 2,000+ square feet, sleeps 6 and can sleep 8 if you have a larger group. The master bedroom has a private deck to take in the amazing sunrises and enjoy your morning coffee. There are 3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, a large sitting room (with fireplace), dining room, kitchen and games room. The Cottage provides board games, a well stocked book selection (for lazy days) and hook-ups for your Fire TV, Apple TV or Roku box. Quite unique to mountain vacation rentals in the area, Tŷ Nant also offers a large flat garden with a children’s play area, perfect for an impromptu game of family football or for exercising your pets. There is a fire pit with open views and plenty of outdoor seating, great for relaxing and fire fly spotting.
If you like to vacation with your horses, 2 properties over from Tŷ Nant (less than 1/4 mile) is a large, very friendly inexpensive boarding barn with really nice facilities. Let us know your requirements and we'll gladly help accommodate your horses. Tŷ Nant is only 25 minutes from the impressive Tryon Equestrian Center and makes a good base for competitors. There are plenty of equestrian trails in close proximity, including Bent Creek Recreational Area, only 7 minutes away, and DuPont State Forest which is only 25 minutes away.
The chef’s kitchen is excellently appointed to make your stay special. However, if cooking’s not on your vacation menu, then you can visit one of the fantastic restaurants located in Asheville, Biltmore Village, Biltmore Park or Arden. Some of the best restaurants in the US are situated in this small catchment, so foodies will take delight in the variety and quality of food on offer in the area.
If beer is more your thing, craft breweries are all the rage in Asheville and many of the craft breweries offer tours and events. You can actually reach the Sierra Nevada brewery on the French Broad river via Kayak or Canoe, directly from Tŷ Nant, where they have decks and pull-outs. The best bit is it’s only a short float back with the current!
